A young-middle-aged couple with two small children living in the East Village wanted to combine their two-bedroom apartment with the studio just adjacent on their floor, which they had just purchased. They had interviewed three architects but not been satisfied; it felt that none of the designers were hearing them - they wanted a contemporary space. Iva's referral to two additional small firms were both very experienced in small-scale residential renovations, very aesthetically flexible, but most importantly, the principals were excellent listeners. Interviews with the owners proceeded apace, and one of Iva's was chosen.
